Many say “A good school district equals a good neighborhood”
What we do know is whether you have children or not, a great school district will impact the value of your home and the environment surrounding that home. First and foremost when buying a home, many immediately examine the location factor. High on the list is being in close proximity to urban centers, easy transportation, and beautiful landscape. Another top consideration is the school district and ratings. This is because when sales are in a a down trajectory, excellent school districts can help ride out the tide. If we are talking about a family with students, when you have a great school district the family will save from a costly private education which is in favor of the buyer. This increases the odds of a good sale. Basically, if you have a strong and stable school district you will see an increased demand for homes within that vicinity, and there is a tendency for buyers to spend a little extra to reside in a high ranking district. It all equates to a good community and what it has to offer for families. 53% of home buyers with children under 18 choose according to the quality of the school district. When it is time for them to move it is believed they will realize a higher sale price with a higher buyer demand and could even see a bidding war.
The headline from The Washington Post confirms that schools count. “Study: For most home buyers, a good school is more important than a garage or an updated kitchen.” For people with families it might be the belief that they will be moving into a community where neighbors care, the area is more family oriented, and children will have a variety of activities to keep them occupied. They also want what is best for their child, a good education.
