FIRST MOVE OF ACTION IS TO RE-APPOINT CONSULTANT DR. VALENTI
“I understand municipal governance and the rules. I don’t need to hire a consultant every time someone asks a question.”

On the outset of the meeting on July 14, 2021
Mr. Castricone: I need a motion to enter into executive session to discuss the employment history of a particular person and to receive advice from legal counsel.
All members of the board were in favor.
Mr. Castricone: Um, we may take action when we return from executive session.
The board returned from executive session 1 hour and 40 minutes later.
Mr. Castricone: At this point the chair would like to make a motion to approve the consultant agreement with Dr. Valenti.
Moved by Gary Heavner
Seconded by Bill Givens
A discussion began. The part that resonates is when Dorothy Ziegelbauer spoke.
Ms. Ziegelbauer: And he’s completely under your direction and not at will to go speak with whomever he may desire on any topic he may desire, his scope is very limited to what’s in this agreement?
Mr. White: That’s right.
Ms. Ziegelbauer: Then I just want to note for the record that we have an attorney that has been involved in the negotiations with the unions, um, and we have had Nicole involved with the union negotiations, and I personally don’t think that this is prudent us of district funds, so I am going to vote against it, but I just wanted to state that for the record.
6 members voted in favor of the rehire of Dr. Valenti
1 member voted opposed to the rehire.
SECOND MOVE OF ACTION TO TAKE NOTE OF
Mr. Heavner: I have a resolution. Be it resolved that the board hereby rescinds the charges of official misconduct brought against a school district officer by resolution in June 18, 2021 with prejudice against the defense and authorizes its vice president to sign a general release related there to.
Mr. Givens: I will move that motion as well.
Mr. Castricone: Do we have a second?
Ms. Cerezo-Scully: Second.
Ms. Ziegelbauer: I have a comment. If the charges were relevant it would have been brought, and I think that it is going to just empower this person to continue with essentially bad behavior and to continue to act in bad faith, so, again, I am going to vote against this one.
The motion carried 6 to 1.
MAKES ONE THINK
Castricone states in his Dan for Supervisor 2021 campaign rally video that one hand washes the other in our town politics, this makes one wonder if one hand is washing the other with his first action as President of the Board of Education to hire Dr. Valenti as the schools consultant.
Was a favor owed to Dr. Valenti considering that the previous board lost trust and removed Dr. Valenti? Apparently Dr. Valenti received confidential information and would not share from whom he received this information. Could this be connected to the charge of misconduct of a board member that was brought forward at a board meeting soon after? Who was the board member in question? Is it not surprising that Dr. Valenti is re-hired so quickly and charges against a board member dropped immediately?
